A guest bedroom suite in Kottayam redesigned as a standalone retreat — composed, welcoming, and detailed with the same care as the rest of the home's principal rooms.
Guest rooms are often treated as afterthoughts in Indian homes. This client wanted the opposite: a room that would make family visiting from abroad feel genuinely pampered. The starting point was a palette of sage green and warm ivory, with natural rattan accents.
A full-width fitted wardrobe in ivory lacquer with brushed gold pulls provides generous hanging and storage space — particularly important for visiting family who stay for extended periods. An upholstered bench at the foot of the bed doubles as luggage rack and seating.
The accent wall behind the bed is clad in a vertical timber batten panel, painted in the same sage tone as the room, creating depth without adding visual noise. Sheer linen curtains with blackout roller blinds behind them give the guests complete control over light and privacy.
